Spry System Requirements

Spry is designed to perform memory and computation intensive engineering simulations. Subsequently, the system requirements are significantly more onerous than those required for standard business use (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browsing etc).

To provide some context, hardware configurations designed for professional multimedia editing (video transcoding, 3d rendering, photo editing), CAD and data engineering and machine learning are more appropriate reference platforms than those designed to send an email.

In addition, Spry is used for a very broad spectrum of mine planning scenarios, with a concomitantly broad range of hardware requirements. A life-of-mine model with dig, dump and haulage over a high detail reserve set with a large set of processes will require a computer with significantly higher specifications than a model used to produce a two-week forecast for the waste movement of a single digger.

The requirements outlined below attempt to strike a balance between these two extremes and should be used as guidelines only. What is most appropriate will ultimately depend on the nature of the specific models that will be used.

Top of Line Reference specifications

Internally, Micromine Precision Consulting uses two 'ludicrous' configuration machines for large models. This represents the upper limits of what is reasonable. As a general rule, if similar machines cannot suitably run the model, this is probably more an issue of performance tuning (or possibly a software misconfiguration issue e.g. anti-virus).
